Course Description

The proliferation of wireless devices, smart sensors, internet connected things and big data are making life better and more efficient. The IoT technology is also fast becoming an aspect of industry sectors. This course describes the Internet of Things devices, typical components, challenges and the standards. The software-based platforms and wireless protocols and securities will be studied. Students will learn the importance of IoT networks in society, interfacing between devices and the cloud platforms and cool applications.

Learning Objective

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define Internet of Things technology and the main components
  • Describe the interaction between software and hardware
  • Describe IoT challenges, security and communication protocols
  • Describe the core hardware used in IoT networks
